Day 74, Travel Day, Heading to Moab, KOA

Friday, August, 20, 2021, Day 74 of our Wild West Adventure.

The days are going by so fast. It seems like just yesterday we left Pennsylvania. Unfortunately the days are winding down to the end of our adventure. We are heading to Moab today. That will be a six night stay.

It is still very smoky. I am constantly clearing my throat and poor Benji keeps sneezing. Today, in our travels, not only do we see smoke miles away in the mountains, but we see smoke ground level.

Look, an Amazon truck. Being on the road, I don’t order from Amazon. The money I’m saving by not buying from Amazon, we are putting in the fuel tank. Fuel is expensive out west.

We pull into a scenic rest stop. We open the Big Boy Truck windows. BooBoo looks out.

Mountains make a great backdrop.

Soon, we’re back on the road. We have another hour to go.

We arrive at the Moab KOA around 1:30 pm. Check is was quick and easy. The staff were very nice. We got an escort to our site.

Our site is gravel and level. We have full hook-ups. They offer cable TV, but for some reason it was not a clear picture so I set up our DIsh Network satellite antenna. It’s cooler here so we don’t need the air conditioner.

Mountains pretty much circle the campground. My sister asked if I am tired at looking at mountains and being in deserts.

If you look at the landscape at the rear of our 5th wheel, you see beautiful mountains. Turn around 180 degrees and you see a housing complex being built. Who in the heck would want to live this close to a campground? Who in the heck wants to camp this close to a housing complex. I’ll bet the campground never imagined a housing complex being built a stone throw away.

Over by the reservation office/store is a path that leads to a congregation area where people can congregate to play ladder ball and cornhole. There is a water fountain and two sets of gas fire pits. If you go to the left and up some steps you get to the pool and hot tub. Too many young kids in the hot tub.

In this area is an Airstream Concession stand where you can buy ice cream, beer, and snacks.

God Bless, Stay Safe, Be Kind to Every Kind.
