Evening Sunsets & Daytime Adventures

Almost every evening we are fortunate to see some lovely sunsets. Beautiful sunsets in PA didn’t happen often because back at our home base, most days were dreary and sunless. In Florida, we see beautiful sunsets almost every evening.

We went on a daytime adventure. I found a dog friendly place to take the pups. We are going to the Lighthouse Point Park. It is a 40 minute drive from our campground. The lighthouse is located on Ponce Inlet.

Lighthouse Point Park is located at the southern tip of Ponce Inlet. The park is open from sunrise to sunset and there is a $10 admission fee per vehicle, or you can purchase an annual inlet parks pass for $20. We paid the $10 for our daily admission. We would not be back. Not because we don’t like it. We have other daytime adventures to visit.

The lady that collected the $10 from the vehicles entering the park told us that everything to the right of the Jetty was dog friendly. What is a Jetty I asked? She chuckled a little.

jetty is a structure that projects from land out into water.

The lighthouse and lighthouse grounds are not dog friendly so we will have to admire the lighthouse from a distance.

We found a parking place for the Big Boy Truck and before we got the pups ready for their walk, I ventured out myself to make sure we were in the right place to walk the dogs. We were in the right area. First we needed to get Benji ready. We put this big bad boy in his backpack carrier and strapped him to me. We strapped him on the front of me because it is easier for me to control his barking with his mouth in reach of my hands. There were many dogs in this area and he would love to bark at each one of them. I had my work cut out for me on this adventure. Hubby kept wanting to take over the task of carrying Benji, but with Hubby’s bad back, I would much rather be the one to carry this 16 pound lump of cuteness.

Hubby could handle BooBoo and Bella on the leash. This is the first time ever that BooBoo and Bella walked on sand.

We would have gone closer to the water but a young couple with two small dogs on leashes were having problems with one of their pups. Their poor pup was uncontrollable and crying with pain. One of their small pups got a prickly pear thorn in its paw. Well, I wasn’t going to take my pups to the area closer to the water where their dog got this thorn in its paw. We decided to stay on the grassy area.

At the end of this grassy path, we had a much closer, excellent view of the lighthouse. When I see big boats in the water like the ones pictured below, I often wonder how rich you have to be to own one of them. We could not afford the dock fee to park one of these

After our walk, we gave the pups some water to drink and secured them back in the truck. BooBoo was so tired he quickly stretched out on my seat thinking he would take a nap. Wrong.

Back at the campground, I needed to go to the campground office. We received a letter with an attached form I needed to complete in turn in. It appears the property management of Wekiva Falls RV Resort has been transferred to Treehouse Communities. Very Interesting. Anyway, the form just needed some contact information and my consent to accept electronic and text correspondence. Our campsite is very close to the office so it was a nice walk without the pups.

These birds were here last year and are still here this year. I do not know what they are called. If any of my Florida friends and family know what his bird is, please comment.

God Bless, Stay Safe, and Be Kind to Every Kind

    1. You and Randy should be doing this. You have family scattered and you would be able to spend time with them all throughout the year. Love and miss you too. Merry Christmas. I hear the weather is going to be really bad so be careful if you go out tonight.

I think these birds are sandhill cranes. Have a great Christmas – expecting 7 inches of snow tonight back near your home base. Can’t wait 5 more years and we will be doing what you are doing and out of the snow.

    1. 5 years will go fast and before you know it, you will be enjoying year-round nice weather. Be careful getting around in the 7 inches of snow and I also hear ice. I do miss family, but not the weather that comes with visiting family. Merry Christmas.
