Almost a Year on the Road!

On September 30, 2020, we will have been on the road for 312 days. During these 312 days, we’ve slept in campgrounds/RV Resorts in 14 different states. We’ve stayed at 26 campgrounds.

This week will be busy for me. I will help my nieces with their babies. I have to stop at the credit union. Can’t log onto my online account. I have to stop at the courthouse to get my absentee ballot. I will be on the road and can’t miss voting in this election. If I were home, I would be one to show up at the polls. I have a list too long to mention here.

We are at our home base in PA until October 4th. When we leave here and for the next few months, we will head south until we reach our destination in Florida. Yep, in December, we will be snowbirds in Florida,

We will stop at Jim and Jennifer’s in North Carolina for close to two weeks. It is nice to stop and stay with family. We will be moochdocking there. Jim put in 50 amps for us. What a great guy?

My hope is, the leaves will be turning colors as we will be spending a week right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. I’m so looking forward to Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We’ve been on both Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway many times on our motorcycle. Each time getting soaking wet from a thunderstorm. Wonder if we will run into a thunderstorm now that we will be in the truck. Time will tell.

I love researching places to stay and I have several reservations made for stops along the way to Jennifer’s. After our stay at Jim and Jennifer’s, we are heading to the Pigeon Forge area. Nothing is reserved for that area yet.

Pennsylvania is popular for Stink Bugs. We’ve been bombarded with stink bugs. They are everywhere. If you do not know what a stink bug is, it is a hard shell bug that flies.

Stink bugs do not bite or sting and pose no danger to humans or pets. They are, however, a major agricultural pest and can cause a lot of damage to plants and farm crops. In addition to damaging plants, when inside of home’s their odor can become very overpowering.

We took the carpet out of the garage area today. I have a suspicion that BooBoo has been marking his territory here in the garage. Now that this is mine and BooBoo’s bedroom, he wants to make sure Benji knows this. On the other hand, I’ve been noticing an odor. I will just have a carpet runner in this room between the happy jack bed and seat. And BooBoo will wear his diaper more than not. The day in the life of a RV traveler with dogs.

Today is Sunday and football is on almost every channel. Let me tell you that I do not watch Football. Never did, never will. Not a fan. If I were a fan, it would be for the Miami Dolphins. I used to be a “non-watching” Steeler Fan only because my PA family are big time Steeler fans. When my mom was alive, she loved the Dolphins, mainly because of the Dan Marino. Years With the Dolphins: 1983–99. She even had a bobblehead of Dan Marino. Hubby is dedicated a Packer fan. Hubby roots for every team the steelers play against. He is not a Steeler fan. We both root for Penn State for College ball.

Oh my goodness, I’ve been watching reruns of Archie Bunker. Two hours of Archie Bunker Monday thru Friday from 8 pm to 10 pm. My how times have changed since the 70s and I find it hard to believe with everything that is going on in 2020, they have not removed this programming from TV. Archie Bunker used to be a favorite program of my dad’s, may he rest in peace. If he is still watching over me, he is probably cracking up at my watching Archie Bunker. “Meet the Bunkers” first aired on January 12, 1971, the year I graduated high school. I have been tempted to, but have not done so. I have not called the Hubby a meathead.

Speaking of television, I’m wondering if we will be watching any new programming. Hubby and I are TV watchers. Hubby is currently hooked on Heartland on Netflix. Our 5th wheel came with four TV’s. We replaced the one in the bedroom with a nice larger screen TV. It’s a smart TV and hubby loves it. Hubby is getting smarter because he can find his Netflix without my help. We have a TV in the living area and one in the garage area. Our fourth TV is outside in a compartment. We have not watched that TV yet. Maybe this winter in Florida.

God Bless, Stay Safe, and Be Kind to Every Kind.

  1. Congratulations on your upcoming 1 year anniversary! I enjoyed your post. My Dad watched Archie Bunker. I watch a LOT of Grit and MEtv in my RV. I love the older shows. The meathead comment made me giggle! Glad you’ll be with family for some boondocking! Stay safe and blessings!
