Day Trip – Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens

Packed up the pups, put their stroller in the back of the truck, and headed off for a few hour road trip to the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens.  The Arboretum was a short 20 minute drive from our RV park.

The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens is a 120-acre urban woodland full of trails for you to explore and enjoy.

From the trailhead next to the parking lot, a stabilized walkway encircles a beautiful two-acre lake. This trail gently descends about 25 feet to the foot of the lake and then returns up a gentle slope on the opposite side to the trailhead. Interpretive signs and over 100 labeled plants enhance the loop.

The trails here are mostly dirt, rock, and some tree roots.  Since our pups are “overprotected” we brought the stroller along with us.  The park was not crowded making it easier to socially distance.  The sun was shinning bright, the temps were in the mid 80s, and there was plenty of shade to make our adventure fun.

The lake is beautiful and tranquil.  Thankfully, we did not see any alligators as they have been seen in the water areas in the park.  Another reason we felt better with our pups riding in the stroller.

The Jacksonville Arboretum & Garden is a beautiful area and I’m glad we went.  I’m also glad this park was pet friendly because if our pups are not welcome, we don’t go.  We find Jacksonville is a very pet friendly area.

Mr. Personality, Benji always needs to make sure everyone knows he is here.  I tease that he is related to Bob Barker.  We should have named him Benji Barker.  But he sure is cute.
