This is the 5th wheel we have our heart on. Several reasons. I know all Recreational Vehicles have issues but some builders are better than others. Of course, there are a lot of people that even complain about Grand Design, but a lot of people love their Grand Design and they post that GD stands behind their rigs. More pluses than minuses.
The reason we picked the Momentum 398M is because of their 18-foot toy box. Hubby wants full body paint (Black with metallic burgundy is the color we are dreaming of), therefore, we will need to order the RV. Since we are ordering the RV, we will get what we want. For example:
- Three Season Garage Door. This is the door that separates the garage from the patio. The picture below shows the patio and you can see the three season garage door. We will buy the rear aluminum deck system with power awning.
2. We want duel pane windows. For several reasons. Heating and cooling, but better than that is noise control. It will for sure help keep the puppy bark noise in and the neighbor noise out when we are in a campground.
3. We need the King bed upgrade. That is a must. We have 3 pups sleeping with us.
4. This comes standard and in my opinion, is a must. The refrigerator works from both electric and propane.
The minute we have the funds in hand from the sale of the house we will start the negotiations to see which dealer we will buy from. On Grand Design’s website, we can build our 5th Wheel. I will build the Momentum, look at RV Dealerships online and send them my document. I will buy from the best place that gives me the best price. NOTE: I WILL NOT PICK THE PLACE ON PRICE ALONE. From my work at the bank, if I didn’t learn anything, I learned that free or cheap is not always best. And nothing is free, so don’t throw in those stupid Grand Design deck chairs in lieu of something when negotiating price. We are told it will take 10 to 14 weeks once the 5th wheel is ordered to pick it up. The full body paint is what takes a little longer.
So happy for you and Roy starting the next stage in your lives.. What an adventure, the best to both of you. Will follow your journey on the blog.
